Armenia, a small country in the South Caucasus, has a long dramatic history and a rich cultural heritage. Despite its compact territory, it has much to offer its guests: fascinating mountain landscapes with snowy volcano peaks, beautiful gorges and cliffs, alpine meadows and subtropical forests, monasteries hidden in valleys, archaeological sites and picturesque villages.
Owing to the diversity of the terrain, the climate of Armenia varies greatly. In a short space of time one can move from sub-tropical lowlands to frosty mountain peaks. Armenia boasts more than 3500 plant species, including 106 endemic ones. Its complex geology and topography are extremely interesting for geologists.
Armenia is an ancient centre of civilization. It was the first country in the world to have adopted Christianity as an official state religion. The world's earliest winery (about 6100 years old) has been found there, as well as the oldest preserved leather shoe. Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world. Nowadays the “Rose city”, as it is called, is a lively cosmopolitan capital with numerous street cafes and restaurants, monuments and museums, gardens and fountains. Last but not least, visitors to this country are invariably delighted by the delicious cuisine, exquisite local wines and the charming hospitality of the Armenian people.
We invite you to join our small group and discover the beauty of Armenia together.
