Volcano Calendar 2020 & Volcanic Winter Destinations (VolcanoDiscovery Newsletter #26, Nov 2019)

Dear friends and guests,

we're proud to present our new 2020 Volcanoes calendar: It features a great variety of selected volcano pictures taken by our team and guests during recent expeditions. If you're looking for an inspiring and useful companion for 2020, a gift or simply gorgeous volcano images to look at on your wall etc, have a look:

Our late summer & autumn travel season has ended with very successful tours to Nyiragongo, Kamchatka, the Kurile Islands, Indonesia and Italy - we thank you warmly not only for joining but also your great company we could enjoy!
To mention a few highlights: Participants on the "Volcanoes & Spices" tour to northern Indonesia were lucky enough to see a rare and spectacular double eruption of Karangetang. Others had great luck to see erupting Karymsky and Sheveluch and countless other volcanoes in Kamchatka in best light (link to some pictures)! World-class volcano photographer Martin Rietze managed to take an amazing shot of a spectacular volcanic lightning at Ebeko in the Kuriles...
Tip: look at the calendar, where these images are featured!

Volcanically overall, it has been a bit calmer around the world during the past weeks (compared to the summer months), but who knows? Volcanoes are always in for surprises and always changing...

And if you're looking for some ideas of interesting tours to do in the winter?
Some tours we plan in the near future include:
28 Dec 19 - 4 Jan 2020: Land of Theseus (Saronic Gulf, Greece) - Discover one of Europe's least known active volcanoes opposite Athens, a truly charming destination out of the beaten path!
24 Jan - 7 Feb 2020: Desert, salt and volcanoes (Danakil desert, Ethiopia) - The active lava lake of Erta Ale, Dallol's colorful hydrothermal springs and the unique landscapes of the Danakil desert are among the planet's most amazing places.
15-22 Feb 2020: Nyiragongo volcano & mountain gorillas (DR Congo) - An expedition to observe the world's largest active lava lake and get to see the fantastic mountain gorillas in the Virunga Park.
